Incredible abilities of the young philosopher

Francis Bacon was born in London on January 22, 1561. His family was quite wealthy, which gave the boy the opportunity to get a decent education. The science of that time couldn’t boast of incredible development even in London. It was based on already-established facts and theories. Francis Bacon had a remarkable knack for learning and demonstrated unique abilities from childhood. However, the boy was very ill. So, he got his primary education at home. Weak health influenced even his adulthood. However, it didn’t prevent him from being better almost everywhere. At the age of 12, he began his studies at Trinity College. The curriculum there was similar to that taught in many mediaeval educational institutions. The main attention was paid to the Latin language. It was in Cambridge that Francis Bacon met Elizabeth I for the first time. She was impressed by the man’s unusual intelligence for his age.

Abroad experience and first steps in political activity

After graduation, Francis Bacon decided to visit other countries. One of the English diplomats became his travel partner. The trip gave the young political scientist and philosopher extremely valuable experience. At first, Francis stayed in France for a while. Later, he went to Spain and Italy. While visiting different countries, Francis Bacon studied languages, civil law and the basic principles of government. The study of French society and government at that time became significant for his further political activity. Sometimes, he had to perform routine diplomatic tasks. However, in 1579, Francis Bacon was forced to return to England due to the sudden death of his father.

Although the death of a loved one is very sad and tragic news, that event marked the beginning of Francis Bacon’s political career. In general, he wanted to continue scientific activity. However, a political career turned out to be more promising because his application for a position at court was rejected. Thus, he became a junior barrister in 1582. From 1581 to 1586, he was elected as an MP and represented various constituencies. In 1595, Francis Bacon became Solicitor General. Interestingly, he was exposed to bribery in 1618. After all, rumours about the dishonesty of politicians are relevant in the modern world too.

Achievements in philosophy and famous works

Despite all the rumours, Francis Bacon is a person who played an important role in the development of philosophy. He became one of the founders of empiricism. His contribution to the development of science is also evidenced by his numerous works. A lot of them can be classified as scientific. Francis also wrote religious and literary works describing his moral philosophy and theological reflections. In his legal works, he proposed reforms in English law. Unfortunately, Francis Bacon died from an illness caused by a long experiment in the cold.
