History of creation and development

The history of Paddington Recreation Ground began in the 1860s. Then this territory was used for recreational purposes for the first time. It served as a cricket pitch, created by the local church. However, the space became more similar to the present one in 1888. Then it was officially opened to visitors for the first time. Paddington Recreation Ground was one of the first public sports grounds in the country. Thus, residents and guests of the city received a unique recreational spot. At the end of the 19th century, another six acres of land were purchased and the total area became 27 acres. It is the current size of Paddington Recreation Ground. People were attracted by green zones and the opportunity to spend time actively. So, this place has become a favourite one for many Londoners. Throughout the 20th century, many locations were developed in London. However, 2006 brought drastic changes. Then the local government decided to implement a regeneration programme and Paddington Recreation Ground has undergone a major redevelopment.

Unique sports locations

The large territory of the park includes many unique objects. A cricket pitch with four practice nets is located in the middle of the territory. There is also an original outdoor bowling green. The local 400-metre long athletics track is also impressive. It was renovated in 2020. Moreover, there is a football field, which operates using the latest technologies. For tennis fans, there are 13 lighted tennis courts, which differ in hardcourt. It can be asphalt or an artificial surface. Here, you can have fun regardless of the level of your skills.

Paddington Recreation Ground also has indoor facilities, which allow visitors to do sports in the most comfortable conditions. The local modern gym offers more than 70 exercise machines, which are designed to perform various training programmes. Paddington Recreation Ground is really a nice green area where you can have an active recreation with family or friends. Children won’t be bored here either. There is a swing, a climbing wall, a slide and small playhouses for the youngest. There is also a sensory trail with outdoor musical instruments on the territory of the playground. Older children can ride the carousel or go down the fire pole. There is also entertainment for teenagers, such as the forest game zone.
